Mark's bedfellows

From Mark Hanson's pre-Orlando assembly letter to clergy:

"John Thomas, President and General Minister of the United
Church of Christ, recently said, "Joy will accompany you
when your ministry is marked not so much by heroic hours of
work, or grim and determined attachment to good works and
noble projects or even by the outward signs of success. Joy
will accompany you when your ministry plunges you into the
places of profound separation and deep alienation that wound
and destroy our lives and communities ... when your ministry
embraces with Jesus the cross that is set before us."

Let's see, that would be Mark's buddy John who is going to plunge his denom into some pretty prfound alienation tomorrow, when the UCC officially leaves Christianity by voting that Jesus is neither divine or Lord.

Atlanta, June 29, 2005

"During the National Gathering of the United Church of Christ Coalition for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Concerns in Atlanta last evening, the denomination's general minister and president, the Rev. John H. Thomas, called upon the church's General Synod to pass a proposed resolution supporting full religious and civil recognition of same-sex marriages; the General Synod will vote on the resolution during its biannual meeting, which begins Friday, July 1. The United Church of Christ (UCC), which evolved from congregational churches founded by the Pilgrims and German immigrant and African-American communities, is a denomination of 1.3 million members."

Look hereand ask yourself how bad is it that someone would be so desperate as to have to write it?
