“There’s no point in us making the curriculum more queer-positive if people can take their kids out,” Peter Corren told the Province yesterday. “This is the public education system. The School Act is quite clear ... religion does not play a role in what is taught. We just want the policy to be followed.”

Let me try and understand the point of this comment by Peter Corren. Is what he's trying to say the following? That a family's religious beliefs should not be considered as valid reasons for an attendance exemption because that would be, in effect, a de-facto support of religion by the school and hence a violation of Canada's policy of "separation of church and state".
